Clear thinking requires courage rather than intelligence.

My Profile

No one is born intelligent neither capable to speak, write, or even read. This was my second semester as a university student and this was my second English class that I took, when being surrounded by people who were born speaking the language I just learned. At first I thought it is going to be difficult adapting to a new classroom such as this. However, I’m not going to put this as my excuse, I chose this challenge, so I am here to achieve it and prove to myself that I am able to take risk. I would say that I have started from scratch. I was not able to write one paragraph or even present for two minutes, but I prevented this to keep happening by trying my best in writing a lot, going to class, and get my work done. This class has positively changed my writing and I admit it I have improved so much. I didn’t think that I am going to be able to reach this level of writing, but thankfully I did. I wasn’t expecting that this class will be challenging, I though it is going to be as easy as my other English classes that I have taken in the past, but I was wrong. Even though this class required too much work, however, there was something special about this class that I liked and I guess the material that we studied, the was that the professor teaches, and the environment of the class itself among classmates, assignments whether they were in class or out of class individually or group, there was always something so essential in this class. In the beginning of the class we had an assignment called “your writing style” we were required to come up with our own way of writing. I didn’t have a “writing style” before all I do is open an empty word page and start to fill it with my thoughts. However, after doing this assignment I found it more easy and organized to have a writing style. My English skills grew a lot in this class and I have done plenty of works in which I developed myself. Works such as the Inquiry question paper, this paper was challenging because it required around 2000 words with certain kind of resources, digitalizing the inquiry paper wasn’t that hard because I enjoyed doing it specially when using the website, and the in class group discussions were really helpful to me because they break the wall of shyness that I had in the beginning of the semester.Another reasons that made me like the class is that I didn’t feel like I was forced to do the assignments and I got more confidence from my peer respond. As an international student I was always scared that I don’t do as good as my American classmates, but I have notice that every time I submit an assignment on Moodle I get a really positive comments, so this shows that I am able to deliver a clear and a make sense writing.

MY Whateva

Writing is the most important skill that a student must have in order to survive college. I am really thankful to this class, especially to my professor, I have learned a lot in this class; I was able to utilize the knowledge that I learned inside the class and apply them outside the class. This class was the only place in which I will have the chance to learn how to improve my English skills such as writing essaies and reading. I have always wanted to write with confidence, to write and be able to express what I want to say, and to write and be able to get positive feedback. I have tried alot to get to this point. A point where I enjoy writing. My writing got improved alot, not only in this class, but when I write for my fire investigation class, or when I present for my global connection class, and believe or not even when I respond to emails and facebook comments.
